Importing a bank statement into Allotti

Importing a bank statement brings the bank transactions from an OFX, QFX, QIF or CSV file into Allotti: you see the preview before anything is written and every import can be undone in full.

What you need

The file your bank gives you: OFX, QFX, QIF or CSV. If your bank gives you an XLSX, save it as CSV first. The import is done from a computer, in the web app.

The steps

  1. Open the account. On your computer open Accounts, choose the account and tap Import. You can also drag the file onto the account's register.
  2. Choose the file. Tap Choose the file or drag the file here. Allotti recognises the format from the content.
  3. Choose the account. The transactions in the file are written to this account. If you already chose it in step 1, this step is done.
  4. Check the preview. Each row has its result: "New" if it will be written, "Already there" if it is already in the account, "To fix" if the date or the amount is unreadable. A row to fix is not written.
  5. Import. The new rows are written to the account. Each import can be undone in full from the account's Imports.

An example

Your current account gets a file with 42 transactions. In the preview, the Esselunga transaction (−64.20 €) and the Enel Energia transaction (−92.00 €) are "New": they are written. A transaction that is already in the account is "Already there" and stays as it is. Then tap Import.

Questions

Why is the file format not recognised?

Allotti reads OFX, QFX, QIF and CSV. Another format cannot be imported from here: if it is an XLSX, save it as CSV and try again.

Can I undo the import?

Yes, each import can be undone in full. If there are reconciled transactions, the import cannot be undone and Allotti tells you.

Can I import into a closed account?

No. You cannot import into a closed account.

Is a transaction already in the account written twice?

In the preview it is marked "Already there", with the result of its row. Check the preview before you tap Import.
