Add expenses with Apple Wallet
You pay with Apple Wallet and Allotti prepares the expense for you. All you have left to do is choose a category, a group and who to split it with. It works on iPhone, with the Shortcuts app.
What does it do?
When you pay with a card in Wallet, your iPhone lets Allotti know. Allotti puts a draft in To do, with the amount, the merchant and the name of the card. For example: €34.55, Mc Donald's-Viale Lombard, Visa Debit Blu.
The expense doesn't go into your accounts until you complete it: you choose a category, a group and who to split with. Then you save. If you don't need it, you discard it. A draft doesn't expire: it stays in To do until you complete or discard it.
How do I set it up?
You do it once, in the iPhone's Shortcuts app. Allotti walks you through it step by step from Profile, Apple Wallet expenses; the steps here are the same:
- Open Shortcuts, tap Automation and then +.
- Choose Wallet (on recent versions of iOS it may say Transaction), then Any Card (or only the cards you want), Run Immediately and Next.
- Tap New Blank Automation, search for Allotti and choose Add expense to Allotti.
- Tap Amount and choose Amount; Card, Card or Pass; Merchant, Merchant. Then Done.
The next time you pay with Wallet, you'll find the draft in Allotti's To do.
What data reaches Allotti?
Only three things arrive: the amount, the merchant and the name of the card as you see it in Wallet. The card number, its expiry date and the security code don't arrive. Allotti doesn't see your bank or your other Wallet payments.
The draft stays in your account and only you see it. Without a connection it stays on your iPhone and goes through when you're back online. When you complete it, it becomes an expense like any other; if you discard it, it's deleted. You can read how we handle data in general in the privacy policy.
How long does a draft last?
It stays in To do until you complete or discard it: it doesn't expire.
Can I use it on Android or in the browser?
Not for now, only on iPhone: Shortcuts is an Apple feature. On an Android phone and in the browser you can enter the expense by hand from New expense.
How do I remove it?
In the Shortcuts app, under Automation, swipe the Allotti automation to the left and tap Delete. From then on nothing reaches Allotti. Any drafts still in To do stay until you complete or discard them.
